Does Sexual preference matter? Does it make a difference in sports, or life??

So, this weeks blog is about Jason Collins and Michael Sam. Otherwise known as the gay guys in major American sports. Where do I start?
How about the courage and restraint of both these guys...I mean they rub up against the objects of their affection all day and don't take things too far. Imagine if you or I had to play defense in the post on Kate Upton. I would've been sued for sexual harassment at least ten times. Or imagine if you had to tackle Sofia Vergara over and over again while you both we're wearing very tight clothing. I'm assuming a tent would've been pitched.
In all seriousness though, who cares if they're gay. If you're a man and played sports in high school or college, then you've almost certainly had a gay teammate. No one cares if you go home on a Saturday night with an ugly man or ugly woman. That's your business. Let's stop trying to act like this is a big deal in 2014. There have been countless women who play in the WNBA, yes this is still around and apparently someone still watches it (sorry, I'm not sorry), who have been openly gay and no one batted an eye.
With all that being said, Jason Collins only gets a little respect for coming out but mostly because he's hot garbage on the court. I'll see what Michael Sam does and reserve judgment until then.
Until next week, love, peace, and Jaliscos grease.

Well this week is a tough one where do I even start.... Do I look at it religiously, from my personal opinion, what society wants to hear, or just make it a drama center? Regardless where your opinion lands what Jason Collins and Michael Sam have done will change professional sports forever. These two men have shown a tremendous amount of courage by stepping up and taking hold of this media monster that accompanies their sexual orientation coupled with their outstanding athletic abilities. As an athlete I can assure you throughout the course of our career the majority of us have played with a homosexual teammate. Whether they were open about it or not we can all think back and pick out that one guy that we had a feeling was eh, a little fruity. Personally I didn't care, it wasn't on the forefront of my mind, and damn sure didn't change how I was going to play. Without diversity we would all be very boring and the individuality that makes up a team would be non-existent. The only reason it is a big deal is because their homosexuality falls outside of the social norm and is "frowned" upon by some groups. Yes, the bible says that homosexuality is a sin but the bible also says "he that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone" John chapter 8 verse 7 King James Version. So let's leave the judgement up to God and accept these men with open arms and embrace them for the courage they've shown.

Well fellas this is a tough one. Being an African American and a person of faith I am really not a big fan of this  whole “lets announce our sexual orientation so we can get publicity attention stunt”  that has been trending in our fine country. First off I can’t stand how people try to compare gay rights to the civil rights movement because in my opinion that’s like comparing oranges to apples. No matter what you believe the fact is that if you are gay the only way people are going to know that you are gay is if you announce it! Everyone can easily see if you are a man or a woman or if you are white or black or any other color. But the thing is you can’t “see” that someone is gay, you have to “hear” it. People aren’t openly announcing their religion, their health status (AIDS, Herpes, etc), or if they enjoy picking their nose in the privacy of their own home. Why you might ask?? Because it does not draw the attention that claiming you are GAY does! It is a personal private preference between you and just you. No one has to know or should have to know your sexual preference. It doesn’t matter to me what he prefers or what she prefers I try to treat all people the same no matter what sexual preference, race, sex, gender, creed, or anything else. People are not defined by what they believe, but rather how they treat other people. -GGG

Michael Sam and Jason Collins seem to be at the top of the ladder sports gossip for being gay and I am not sure why. If you’re not able to accept and respect these two as major athletes because they are gay then you are just naive about the present time our society is in. I’m sure half of the people criticizing these two are people who haven’t even touched the playing field since grade school. It is 2014 and things are constantly changing. Michael Sam is a beast on the field, one of the best defensive ends in college ball last year. During his college career Sam accumulated 123 tackles, including 36 for loss, 21 sacks, six forced fumbles and two intercepted passes. The stats speak for themselves and that is all that matters. If this man was to fail in the NFL due to his personal beliefs then that is absurd. Jason Collins is the man who broke the California rebound record, that’s over 1500 rebounds! He finished his college career ranked first in Stanford history for field goal percentage (.608) and third in blocked shots (89). Collins signed a 25 million dollar contract. To all of the people not supporting the “Gay” athlete, what have you accomplished? Before you are quick to state your disapproval of others, be sure to step back and think of what that person managed to overcome. So yes, these athletes have my support. Any athlete, gay or not, will have my support as long as they serve as positive role models.

As Jason Collins made history this past week and Michael Sam on the brink of making history I can't help but to think about the many barriers knocked down inhistory. From Jackie Robinson becoming the first African American MLB player to a white guy, Brent Barry, winning an NBA slam dunk contest (white man can jump). Although breaking barriers is historical, respectable and courageous I would like to think that these men would want to be known more so for what they do in their respective careers and life then what their sexual preference and the color of their skin is. I may not have the same beliefs or lifestyle as Sam and Collins but I do respect them. Anyone that can stand alone in a crowd and be true to themselves deserves respect. My hope, as society, is that we can move on from this and make it about the game. Michael Sam said it best... "I want to be known as Michael Sam the football player, not Michael Sam the gay football player." Take notice ESPN!

Random Blog... New Site...

Comedian Blogger
If you haven't heard yet, a very large object looking in the very near future. That object is March Madness. It is upon us ladies and gents. March madness a culmination of Cinderella stories, David vs Goliath, and plain old smack downs.
There are a few things that are guaranteed to happen every march madness.
1)A Cinderella story- There will be a team that you've never heard of that will go far into the tourney but in the end, there is a reason that you've never heard of them. They can't beat the big names.
2) Your bracket will be busted-you will do 5, maybe 10 brackets with every scenario you can think possible and you will still be incredibly wrong.
3) The Dumb Girl effect- There will be a girl, who doesn't know the first thing about basketball, or any other sport for that matter, that will fill out a bracket in your office pool and smoke every guy who's been watching 5-10 games a week since the beginning of the season. It just happens.
4) Kansas fans will cry-It's inevitable. Kansas fans will cry out of joy, or whining, or despair. KU fans are only happy when they win the tourney...or when they're complaining about fouls. They will be happy or be happy to complain.
Good luck to all you miscrients in your brackets and your betting endeavors.

The Entrepreneur

After minutes of deliberating about what my blog would be about this week I ran across an article on entrepreneur.com. This article highlighted an invention that is near and dear to my heart. It really hits close to home. It may change my life forever. I honestly never thought something could make this particular product any better… I was wrong! I know the anticipation is killing you, but this creation deserves the suspense. Are you ready for it? Alright… here it is… “CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE MILK SHOT”.  Yes, you read it correctly. A French Chef by the name of Dominique Ansel, AKA the cookie guru and my homeboy, was inspired to create this inconceivable concoction after trying Oreo cookies with milk for the first time. So basically it’s a cookie that takes on the shape of a shot glass that is both crispy and moist enough to hold a shot of milk. If you know me, you know my jaw dropped in aawww after reading this article. To say I have a sweet tooth would be an understatement. I mean your reading the blog of a man that occasionally will wake up before work and wipe out a whole row of chips ahoy cookies with milk for breakfast (I’m not ashamed). There is something about high fructose corn syrup and bleached flour that my body needs to survive. So I want to take the opportunity to thank this Frenchman, Mr. Ansel, for simplifying my life by combining what I consider to be my favorite dessert. You sir, are a true innovator and my hero!

The Newly Wed
Alright alright alright!! Finally changed the site to an actual "blogging" site! Not goin to lie I'm not exactly tech savvy. Anyways my little snippet this week is about the plane that mysteriously went missing?!?! Now please tell me how in the SAM HELL does a gigantic Jet go missing... Better yet how in the world did it just fall off the face of the planet?? For some reason this situation does not make any kind of sense to me and with it being the year 2014 it is so sad to me how this could have happened.. I mean someone can steal your iphone and take it half way across the world and with simply flipping the switch on your phone to "find my phone" you can pin point almost its exact location and we cant find a jet with 100000 more gadgets and devices on it and it can fly! Last I checked my iphone can't fly... Anyways hope you all enjoy the new site and hope you all keep up and leave some comments! Nothing like a good debate.. O and GO POKIES!!
Im out-GGGG

The Fashion Guru
As we embark on another week of blogging, admittedly a little later than the rest, I've decided to get up on my soap box and talk about fitness. Fitness is one of the toughest things to achieve and maintain. It is one of the few things in life that there really isn't a short cut to, there's no magic pill, no secret drink, it's just hard work and commitment. You can't exercise when you feel like it, eat whatever you whenever you want, and still have success. Are there ways to enhance your results? Sure there are but you still have to put in the work. You take all the pre workout and protein you want but if you don't get your butt in the gym you'll see no results. So to all you out there looking for the quick way to get into swimsuit shape for the summer stop. Start eating right and consistently exercising you'll see the results you want, eventually. Remember it's not going to happen over night but stick with it and it will happen. My name is Mike McMahon and I believe in fitness.
